In an op-ed in Business Insider, David Cruickshank, the Global Chairman of Deloitte, asserted the need to redefine globalization. He said intense focus on the economic development aspect of globalization has created an incomplete picture of growth. In order to build robust, sustainable communities, business, government and civil society leaders must identify and prioritize the social needs of their community. Cruickshank called the Social Progress Index the “perfect tool for the job” to allow for more informed decision-making and “ensure globalization is able to bend and flex without breaking.”
