At every level of income, there is the potential for greater progress and the risk of less. States with higher Median Household Incomes tend to have higher social progress, but there are plenty of outliers that do not perform as their income would suggest. This simply confirms that more wealth does not guarantee higher social progress.
In addition to ranking and scoring each state individually, we also evaluate their strengths and weaknesses relative to 15 other states with a similar Medium Household Income. This can provide insight into other factors, besides income, that are affecting a state’s quality of life.
