Vice Chair Roberto Artavia Loría Facilitates Costa Rica Development Accord

In recent weeks, the vice chair of our board of directors, Roberto Artavia Loría, helped facilitate a national accord on the country’s development priorities in partnership with government and industries, ensuring social progress remains equal to economic prosperity. Nine parties with parliamentary representation adopted the agreement with the vision that it “should foster a more prosperous, more equitable and socially advancing nation, solidarity among its citizens and sectors, modern and competitive before the global economy, with democratic governance and political forces that dialogue with fluency and transparency in function of the nation’s superior objectives.” They selected eleven major issues as national tasks leading up to the country’s bicentennial (2021), including regional development, modernization of infrastructure and public transport, comprehensive education reform, and employment policy and compliance with labor rights.
